Built on a survey of 300 engineering and technology leaders along with detailed interviews with senior executives and industry experts, the report explores how product engineering teams are putting AI to work in real world environments.
It highlights how organizations are scaling AI across engineering workflows, what challenges still hold back broader adoption, and which emerging capabilities are shaping the next phase of AI driven product development.
Key findings from the research include:
- Verification, governance, and explicit human accountability are mandatory in an environment where the outputs are physical and the risk high.
- Predictive analytics and AI-powered simulation and validation are the top near-term investment priorities for product engineering leaders.
- Nine in ten product engineering leaders plan to increase investment in AI in the next one to two years, but the growth is modest.
- Sustainability and product quality are top measurable outcomes for AI in product engineering.
- Scaling requires refocusing on the engineering workforce, forging strategic partnerships with third-party experts, and embedding trust early.
